TRIUMPH
Because the Gods placed their adamantine fate
Between my burning heart and its desire
I swore on earth to rise up burst the iron gate
And curse them on their throne of fire.
Earth shuddered at my blasphemy
But love was as a flame about my feet
Proud up the stairs I strode and beat
Thrice upon the gate and entered with a cry
all the great courts lay silent in the sun
Dust had begun to creep within the vacant council halls
And idle wind blew round an empty throne
And stirred the heavy curtains on the walls.
I knew at once wherein I had erred
And that the older Gods no longer cared
Deep in thought I left my goal
Lost in reflections of the winter of my soul...
