As I arose, one early morn,
The dew still on the ground,
I rush to fill the coffee pot,
While the chipmunks, run around.
The birds they twitter in the trees,
The woodpeckers go, knock knock,
The loons down on the lake do call,
Don`t they ever stop.
Now with coffee, I reflect,
On the scene that now surrounds me,
Many gaily colored tents,
Trailers, standing tall and sleek.
I hear a little baby cry,
His new day, just begun,
And now I hear a doggie bark,
He`s anticipating fun.
All the children are awakening,
Their sqeals of joy, nonstop,
Some ride their bikes down to the store,
For something Mom forgot.
Now out comes cereal packets,
To start the day off well,
Some folks are frying bacon,
It`s the most delightful smell.
Well, some men they go off to fish,
Others stay behind.....What for,
To help pack picnic hampers,
For a day down on the shore.
And now that night is falling,
All the campfires are alight,
Some sit, and sing songs softly,
Others play the cards all night.
I now look, way above my head,
The moon and stars, shine bright,
Make a wish, on a falling star,
On this Campground, in the night.
